6-2-20 Art Activity - Season Trees

5-19-20 Art Activity - Finger Puppets

Today we are going to make some finger puppets. Right now, things are starting to crawl around outside, such as caterpillars. Caterpillars eat lots of leaves so that they can get big enough to make a chrysalis. Inside their chrysalis they magically transform into a beautiful butterfly. We will make a caterpillar and butterfly finger puppet which you will also use in Ms. Carrajat's Music lesson tomorrow.

Origami is the Art of paper folding and it comes from the country of Japan. It has been around for a very long time. We are going to make a puppy and a baby shark puppet today with origami. You do not need special origami paper to do this lesson.

Written Directions

Cut two strips of paper one 2" wide and one 1 1/2" wide. Cut a square off of the 1 1/2" strip. Roll both pieces into a circle and glue the ends. Glue the smaller roll on top of the larger. Use the leftover square to cut to bumps on one of the sides to place the eyes on. Cut out 2 ovals of white paper for eyes and glue down to the cut square. Cut four legs by rounding one end of four strips. Glue two to the bottom and two to the front of the frog. Cut a larger circle out for the lily pad. Cut a triangle away from the circle to give it the lily pad shape. Add lines and a puff of tissue paper for a lily flower.

4-21-20 Art Activity

Look around your house for shapes. Find three things that have a square in them. Find three things that have a triangle in them and three things with a circle. Watch my demonstration video below. Try to draw some of these shapes. Watch the YouTube video below to hear the "How to Draw Shapes Song". Take the challenge and try to draw the other shapes in the video.
